Introducing Tamlin, a natural talent with
generations of music in his blood. His transcendent sound reminds
you of something beautiful you forgot you needed.
Tamlin has spent the past 3 years writing, recording and performing
to produce soulful, striking songs for his debut album End Of The
Affair. His work is a hybrid of blues, roots, rock and reggae,
inspired by a childhood surrounded by artists in the heady days of
the Australian music explosion of the 1980s.
Tamlin is from a family with a long musical pedigree. When he was a
baby, his parents were signed to the same label as the Bee Gees &
their band toured with Frank Zappa, BB King & Roy Orbison. His uncle
Jim Conway is Australia’s premier blues harmonica player, known for
his work with the Backsliders and ARIA nominees Big Wheel. Another
uncle, Mic Conway, founded Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. It is no
surprise that Tamlin, who was at a drum kit at age 2, emerged a
multi-instrumentalist, an inspired singer, effortless songwriter,
engineer and producer.
Tamlin’s numerous credits include working as an engineer for ARIA
award winning producer Jonathon Burnside on the Sleepy Jackson EP
Let Your Love Be Love & their acclaimed album Lovers (EMI). He has
assisted on sessions by Frank Bennett, Eskimo Joe & Human Nature,
and co-produced two albums for Matt Ellis, with David Price (INXS)
and Jonathon Burnside.
Talented as he may be in the studio, with a guitar strapped on and
mic up close, centre-stage is where Tamlin belongs. Audiences at
venues such as The Metro, The Basement, The Hopetoun have shown
strong appreciation for Tamlin's live set. Tamlin was a finalist
(Blues and Acoustic) and his band played at the Musicoz 2004 awards
ceremony. Whether solo acoustic or with his compelling band
featuring Zoltan Budai (Richard Clapton) on bass, Jim Conway
(Backsliders) on harmonica, Jon Howell (Leonardo's Bride) on drums,
Jeremy Edwards on guitar and Scott Applin (Delta Goodrem) on
keyboards, Tamlin always delivers!
His debut album End Of The Affair (Bonza Records) is out in March
2006, lovers of the real thing be sure not to miss him.
